We start this unique tour at Cafeterija Magazin 1907, the first Belgrade department store, today the premises of a well-known local cafeteria. We continue Kralja Petra Street , which leads us to the Cathedral , a monumental symbol of the Orthodox tradition that represents the heart of the old part of Belgrade and an important turning point in the fight for the restoration of religious freedom.
The next point is the Inn of Princess Ljubica, a masterpiece of architecture from the beginning of the 19th century. This building was designed to house one woman, the ruler and mother of future princes. Relying on the tradition of the Ottoman-Balkan way of building, it summarizes the centuries-old influence of the Turks, but also the increasingly pronounced influence of Europe.
We continue towards Kosančićev venc, a charming neighborhood with narrow cobbled streets and a view of the Sava. This place, once upon a time meeting place of artists, writers and intellectuals, preserves memories of the times when it was the center of cultural life. An important testimony of Kosančić’s wreath are the remains of the National Library, which perished in the Nazi bombing in 1941. year.
We end the tour in the spirit of French tradition by drinking champagne and enjoying the view of the river. And for lovers of Serbian gastronomic tradition, there is the possibility of organizing dinner in the oldest tavern in town “Question mark “, where you will be greeted by authentic local cuisine and an atmosphere that is almost two centuries old.
