After almost four decades of waiting, the Memorial Museum of Nadežda and Rastko Petrović opens its doors to visitors again – and we take you on a tour of their world!
In the peaceful surroundings of the Professor’s Colony , a neighborhood where the intellectual and artistic elite of interwar Belgrade lived, the family house of their sister Ljubica Luković is located – today part of the National Museum of Serbia and a unique space that preserves the memory of two exceptional artists and their entire family.
On this tour, we will take a peek into the intimate, family microcosm of Petrović: the most famous Serbian painter Nadežda Petrović and her brother, the exceptional but unfairly neglected writer and diplomat Rastko Petrović. Through their pictures, sketches, letters, manuscripts, family photos and newspaper articles, we will discover the story of people who, through their creativity, shaped Serbian culture .
This house is not just a museum – it is an oasis of tranquility, sublimity and the spirit of a time , which after a fresh renovation was arranged with great care by the curators of the National Museum, led by Marija Đorđević.
We begin our walk with the story of the Professor’s Colony itself , and then, guided by the narration of our Jovana, we enter the world of Petrović, where art, family ties and a historical moment intertwine.
Join us and dive with us into the magical world of Petrović!
